'Juwanna Mann' Was Filmed in Steph Curry's Childhood Home, Steph's Sister Reveals

The 2002 basketball cult classic was filmed inside the Curry family’s home, and included a cameo from a young Seth Curry.

For fans of a certain age, Juwanna Mann is on a short list of the best basketball movies of all time. The cult classic, released in 2002, remains a nostalgic favorite for hoops fans and movie lovers alike. But even after more than two decades, the film is still delivering surprises.

On a recent episode of Straight to Cam, a podcast hosted by WNBA star Cameron Brink and (sister of Seth and Steph Curry) Sydel Curry-Lee, Sydel dropped a behind-the-scenes bombshell: parts of the film were actually shot inside the Curry family’s home in Charlotte.

Remember the scene when Vivica Fox’s character catches Ginuwine’s character in bed with another woman? Turns out that was actually Dell and Sonya Curry’s  bed (Steph’s parents).

“That was my parents’ bed, like, in the house,” Curry-Lee explains while laughing on the podcast. “And then when Juwanna Mann knocks on the door to punch Ginuwine—that was the door of our house.”

Even more surprising? An 11-year-old Seth Curry makes a brief cameo in one of the opening scenes. It’s a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, but knowing now that basketball’s best shooting family was part of cult basketball movie history adds another fun layer to its legacy.

It’s fitting, though. From the hardwood to Hollywood, the Currys have always been a part of the game.
