Ciara Reflects on Viral Rihanna Reunion

The pop stars once traded barbs online, but now are bonding over motherhood.

Ciara and Rihanna’s story just added a new chapter, and it’s all about support, motherhood, and maturity.

During her appearance on “The Sherri Shepherd Show” this week, the singer opened up about reconnecting with Rihanna at the 2025 Met Gala. The two shared a now-viral photo of the “Goodies” hitmaker beaming while holding Rihanna’s baby bump.

“I just have to shout her out because I’m so proud of her,” Ciara said of the Fenty mogul, who revealed she was expecting her third child just hours before the Met. “This is her third baby that she having now.” The two were spotted embracing and smiling for cameras during fashion’s biggest night, with Ciara even cradling Rihanna’s growing baby bump in a photo that quickly lit up social media.

Ciara told host Sherri Shepherd their exchange at the Gala was all “straight mommy talk, just sweet love.” She added, “It’s a special moment for her. She also sent me a sweet DM like a few months back saying she’s so proud of me. And it’s just sweet love, you know?”

The warmth marks a major shift from where they once were. As many fans remember, back in 2011, the two pop stars clashed in a headline-grabbing Twitter feud after Ciara said on Fashion Police that Rihanna “wasn’t the nicest” to her at a party.

Things escalated from there with Rihanna ultimately  responding  with a now-infamous clapback: “good luck bookin that stage you speak of.” However, both women eventually moved on with their careers and personal lives.

Now moms of multiple children, Ciara says their evolution is a powerful message for women everywhere. “We’re both living proof that you can have babies and still thrive,” she said. “Success and motherhood can go hand in hand.”
