Spotify’s Classics recently launched the 100 greatest R&B songs of the streaming era.

Before you get upset that some of the renowned songs released don’t appear on the list, only songs released since 2015 were considered. In total, the songs have accumulated more than 43 billion streams.

The initiative was spearheaded by Carl Chery,  Creative Director and Head of Urban Music at Spotify along with Spotify’s U.S. editorial team. The list is based “on criteria such as quality, impact, replay value, influence, and cultural significance, Spotify Classics is 100% qualitative,” a news release from Spotify read.

SZA’s “Snooze”, which was released in 2023,  topped the list and has been streamed more than 886.5 million times. The song also earned SZA a Grammy award for Best R&B Song in February.

Other artists who made the list are Beyoncé, Jazmine Sullivan, Jhene Aiko, The Internet, Frank Ocean, Steve Lacy, Summer Walker, Masego, Lucky Daye, Brent Faiyaz, and more.

The list is the second “Classics” addition following the 30 Classic Hip-Hop and R&B Albums From the Streaming Era which was released in February.
