BET Awards 2022: Check Out What City Girls’ Tracks We’re Adding to Our Summer Playlist
Miami-based hip hop duo City Girls hit the ground running after making a splash on the music scene with an uncredited guest appearance on Drake’s 2018 smash hit single “In My Feelings.” One mixtape, two studio albums, and several viral moments later, Yung Miami and JT are heading to the BET Awards 2022 after earning a nomination for “Best Group.” Before we can see who will take home the bragging rights, check out what City Girls’ records we’re adding to our summer playlist.
“P-ssy Talk” feat. Doja Cat
The City Girls released their second single, “P-ssy Talk,” off their sophomore album City on Lock. The track features a fiery verse from Grammy Award-winning rapper and singer Doja Cat.
“Twerkulator”
Fans were almost devastated in March 2021 following the delay of Twekulator after group member Yung Miami revealed challenges behind getting clearance for the various songs sampled on the track. The record features Afrika Bambaataa’s 1982 iconic track “Planet Rock,” which in turn samples Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe Express.” The song also interpolates the lyric “It’s time for the twerkulator '' from "Percolator" by Cajmere. After a two-month wait, supporters were treated to a full track and a Missy Elliott-directed video.
“Jobs”
“Jobs” serves as the leading single off City Girls’ second studio album, City on Lock. Following an unfortunate leak on June 19, 2020, the record and album were released the following day. The corresponding music video features the hip hop duo and their longtime collaborator and rising artist Saucy Santana and finds the girls ditching their 9-5 life for a more entrepreneurial pathway.

The song reached number one on Billboard’s Rhythmic song chart and features samples from “Hot Girl Summer” by Megan Thee Stallion featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign and “Midnight Hour” by Skrillex, Boys Noize, and the “Paranoid” singer.
“Top Notch”
City Girls teamed up with Drill music’s leading emcee Fivio Foreign for this summer banger “Top Notch,” making it the Miami duo’s first record utilizing the growing popular sound.
