The rise of social media has given us a flurry of viral challenges that regular folk and celebrities alike have all gotten a kick out of. But the latest viral challenge, the #CucumberChallenge, has the internet up in arms on whether or not it has a place on social media.
Some of you may be wondering, “What is the cucumber challenge?" No, it’s not a new, healthy diet challenge for the summer like you’d think! This challenge involves girls showing off a particular…skill set. Women, as well as some men, have taken up the challenge to see how far they can fit a cucumber in their mouths and showing off these skills for the world to see. Yes, basically deep throating a vegetable. A lot of videos have shown individuals doing it on cucumbers in the grocery store. Yikes!
The cucumber challenge was recently brought to light when 28-year-old rapper YFN Lucci posted women participating in the challenge on his Instagram story. This did not go over well with his 21-year-old girlfriend, Reginae Carter, who called the challenge “degrading.” While several celebrities shared her negative sentiments about the challenge, others didn’t think it was right to shame these women.
