Lori Harvey Sets The Record Straight About Her Business, Her Love Life, And Future Baby Plans!
Lori Harvey has taken the skincare industry by storm with the summer launch of her ingredient-friendly beauty brand, SKN by LH. Inspired by her love for beauty, the self-care line has been met with rave reviews by many, even her actor boyfriend Michael B. Jordan has come to love the benefits of a step-by-step skincare routine.
It was reported that the brand sold out 48 hours after its launch, which was a big deal for Harvey who dreamed of building a beauty empire that others can look up to.
“There aren't a lot of big skin-care brands that are headed up by or have been founded by Black people or, specifically, Black women, so I wanted to add to that list,” she explained to Popsugar. “When the next generation is coming up and there's that little brown girl who wants to get into skincare or start her own company, she can see me and be like, 'I can do it, too.'”
While chatting with the magazine, Harvey opened up about her budding love life and even baby plans.
“Before, I have been more so quiet and let the media run with whatever story they've felt like running with and didn't give it any attention; no confirmation, no denial, no anything,” the 25-year-old businesswoman explained. “Now that I'm getting older and coming into my own and starting my businesses, I want to take control of my narrative. I want to let people get to know me— who I really am, not necessarily who people think I am.”
When it comes to her relationship with People’s Sexiest Man Alive, she admits that she’s a strong advocate for building a relationship that goes far deeper than romance. Think: chess games, which she plays with Michael often.
“Be friends first,” she advises others looking to build a genuine connection with someone they love. “You know how sometimes you fight with your siblings and, of course, you love them, but you're like, 'I don't even like you right now'? It's important to always be friends whether you like the person.”
She is also a strong advocate for communication. She explains, “Always communicate. Overcommunicate, even, so you are always on the same page.”
When asked what her plans are for the next five years, Harvey revealed she wants to launch a series of successful businesses. “Hopefully, SKN by LH is a household name and people are loving it, and I'm a real force in the business space, the beauty space, the fashion space.”
She adds, “Hopefully, I have a baby; hopefully, I'm married.”
