Azealia Banks Storms Off Stage After Rant At Miami Pride Concert

Some fans booed the rapper, who accused the event promoter of unprofessionalism.

Azealia Banks dropped her mic and stormed off the stage Friday (June 10) night at her Wynwood Pride performance in Miami after accusing the event promoters of unprofessionalism.

"For the last good, like, month and a half, I've just been being [explictive] with. I've been [explictive] around with, you know? Set time's been moved and like, 'Oh, you're headlining. No, you're not headlining. Now you're not this.' I'm really not happy to be here," she rants in videos shared on Twitter.

At first, her audience appeared to sympathize with her, PEOPLE reported.

The rapper continued, "I'm so unhappy to be here. But what did the fans ever do? What did you guys ever do, right? I'm trying, y'all. But it's difficult."

But their patients quickly grew thin. Boos broke out after the crew cut off her mic, which prompted Banks to toss it and storm off stage. An audience member apparently threw a drink at the performer as she exited.

The rapper later explained why she was so upset. “Wynwood Pride was way too ghetto. I had to bounce,” PEOPLE quoted her Twitter post. She claimed that her original performance time was 10 p.m., but it was pushed back to 1 a.m. Banks also said the promoters ignored a request not to use dry ice, which she is “extremely allergic to.”

She called the event "an absolute display of how Hispanic citizens in south Florida make poor attempts at selfish cash grabs by exploiting young undocumented gay boys for nightlife entertainment."

Wynwood Pride did not have a comment for PEOPLE and Banks' team did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
