Timbaland, Twitter Blast Wendy Williams's Aaliyah Biopic

Plus, Missy Elliott offers prayers.

The verdict is in on the highly-anticipated Aaliyah biopic, and — not surprisingly — the television film has been universally panned. Wendy Williams, who co-executive produced the unauthorized film, is particularly catching a lot of heat for her involvement with the project.
Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B is drawing criticism from fans, stars and television insiders alike, who are criticizing the quality of the film and its questionable casting choices (Alexandra Shipp plays Aaliyah). Most notably, the film has attracted the scorn of Timbaland and Missy Elliott, who produced the singer's sophomore album and are portrayed in the telepic.
"Lifetime disrespects Aaliyah," read one of the memes Timb posted to his Instagram account. The producer also posted a series of videos denouncing the controversial film. "A lot of people keep asking me if I'm watching that bulls**t," Timbaland said in one clip.

"Evidently not. No way. Not Timbo," the producer added. Timbaland posted four videos in total, adding that he hopes the network will "feel his wrath."
Meanwhile, Elliott, who is also portrayed in the film, responded only slightly less negatively to the film. "My prayers go to [Rashad Haughton, Aaliyah's brother] & ma Diane to lose a sister & daughter then father they been thru so much," she wrote.
Perhaps the best reaction came from Zendaya Coleman, who was slated to play Aaliyah before dropping out of the project over creative differences. Her tweet came down to just one word: "Karma."
As for Williams, whose involvement with the film has raised eyebrows from day one, we'll see if this winds up on her Hot Topics this week.
