Jay-Z's Passionate Words For Cam'ron In This Old Video Will Make You Sadly Regret Their Beef...
The ancient beef between Roc-A-Fella OG Jay-Z and Diplomats flagbearer Cam’ron found its roots circa the late ‘90s and early 2000s when both men were flourishing rap talents and, for Hov, a label-founding force to be reckoned with.
A fussillade of sharp-shooting diss records and tension between their respective crews kept the men at a hostile distance for years on end, which (according to Cam’ron) started back when the Harlem-native became an official Roc-A-Fella signee, courtesy of Jay’s former business partner, Dame Dash. But before their differences strained the relationship, Hov campaigned for the entire Roc-A-Fella posse, including the Dipset rap star, on public platforms for all hip-hop fans to see.
Killa Cam’s mother, Fredericka Giles, is reminding us all of that simpler time with a throwback video she posted to Instagram of the Brooklyn industry mogul that will have hip-hop fans ready to time-machine back to the golden Roc-A-Fella era.
Hov sent praise to the then-Roc-A-Fella newbie in the clip
Chopping it up in an MTV interview with Sway Calloway, Hov called Cam a “workhorse” after revealing he might have already cooked up as many as 100 songs after his Roc-A-Fella inauguration. He applauded his hip-hop hunger and advocated his devotion to the game on Cam’s behalf as well.
“Random n Rare,” Cam’s mother wrote in the video’s caption. “Jay on Cam’s album dropping on Roc-A-Fella Records.”
In typical proud mama fashion, her Instagram page is doused with her son’s professional endeavors, milestone moments and even some of his controversies…
