Mary J.Blige Slammed With Lawsuit For "Take Me As I Am" Track

Grammy Award-winning R&B star Mary J. Blige and production team The Clutch are being sued by songwriters Jay Ballard and Kim Jones over the track, "Take Me As I Am.

The pair named Blige and The Clutch in the lawsuit, claiming they stole the duo's song of the same name, which was released in 1995. Blige then used it on her 2005 album, "The Breakthrough.

According to court documents filed in United States District Court in the Central District of California, Ballard and Jones are seeking royalties for all singles and albums sold in all formats. They're also seeking an accounting of publishing income from the song's usage in several advertisements.

Reps for Mary J. Blige or The Clutch have yet to respond to the lawsuit.
