Oprah Had A Ruthless Reaction To Her Pal Russell Simmons’ Rape Allegations

The mogul made a swift move.

Russell Simmons has experienced a few setbacks after several women came forward claiming he sexually assaulted or raped them.

The mogul's character has since been defended by the likes of ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons and model Eva Marcille. However, one powerful woman whose support he failed to rally is none other than Oprah Winfrey.

According to the New York Times, Winfrey has completely removed all traces of Simmons' contributions from her spiritual advice book after the allegations were made. Marlena Bittner, a spokeswoman for Winfrey's publisher Flatiron Books, confirmed the news.

The book, titled The Wisdom of Sundays, comprises of selections between the media queen and several of her guests on the OWN show Super Soul Sunday in addition to excerpts from motivational speakers like Elizabeth Gilbert and Deepak Chopra. Simmons' involvement came in the form of him sharing his expertise on how meditation positively affected his life, in addition to his thoughts on wealth and success.

The Wisdom of Sundays has already been published, remaining on the best-seller list since it was initially released in 2017. However, while his words were included in the original release, they will be omitted in the new edition, to be released in February.

Oprah Winfrey and Russell Simmons have had a long-standing friendship throughout the years, with the entertainment juggernaut attending her Legend's Ball back in 2005 and even appearing on her talk show where he famously denounced rappers who use the N-word in their music.

Twelve women to date have come forward claiming sexual assault or rape at Simmons' hands. He remains adamant that he is completely innocent in the matter.
