Pimp C’s Wife Honors Him With Scholarship
UGK’s Ridin’ Dirty gold plaque will be auctioned.
The wife of late Houston rapper Pimp C plans to honor him by creating a scholarship fund for people who want to make music.
The rapper, who was found dead at age 33 in a Los Angeles hotel room in 2007, is revered for his work as one-half of UGK with best friend, Bun B. His unexpected death is blamed on respiratory problems.
According to AllHipHop.com, the late rapper's wife, Chinara Butler, will auction off the group’s classic and gold-certified 1996 album Ridin’ Dirty to help finance the scholarship.
She tells the website, “Chad put his all into making his music, and learning the business of music. For people that want to succeed in the music industry, education is a must."
