Cardi B Sued for Alleged Microphone Throwing Incident

The lawsuit was filed after a 2023 concert where the artist allegedly threw a microphone into the audience. Although the Clark County District Attorney’s Office closed the matter due to insufficient evidence, Jane Doe claims the microphone hit her.

Cardi B is being sued for assault, battery, and negligence. In a complaint seeking compensatory and punitive damages, filed in Clark County, Nevada, on Monday, July 29, the plaintiff alleges that while on stage, Cardi B invited her audience to splash her with water during a performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas in 2023.

According to Rollingstone, the woman suing Cardi B claims the rapper “forcefully” chucked a microphone at her in retaliation for splashing a “small portion” of a drink on Cardi.

The lawsuit alleges that Cardi B poured water on herself and further alleges that the rapper stated, “Wooh that [expletive] feel good.” At the same time, the audience splashed different liquids onto the stage.

“In apparent anger and without warning,” the rapper “aggressively and intentionally launched” her microphone “directly” at Jane Doe, who sustained injuries as a result, the lawsuit claims.

To add insult to apparent injury, the plaintiff claims she suffered further emotional distress when the alleged microphone was put up for auction, and in doing so “further publicized the incident and exacerbated plaintiff’s emotional distress.”

According to the Economic Times, Cardi B’s attorney, Drew Findling, responded, saying the following in a statement:

"The filing of a civil case against Ms. Almanzar regarding the two-year-old microphone incident is a transparent and pitiful attempted financial shakedown."

"The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County District Attorney’s Office closed this matter for insufficient evidence a long time ago, but the opportunity to try to make money off of a celebrity was too much for some willing law firm to pass up."
