Ms. Hill turns 48 years old today.

Today (May 26) we celebrate the 48th birthday of the remarkable Lauryn Hill. Lauryn Hill is known for her immense talent as a singer, songwriter, rapper, and actress. Despite a relatively limited discography, Hill's impact on music and popular culture is immense. She continues to resonate with audiences worldwide, and remains a highly respected and influential figure in the industry -- always navigating the entertainment industry her way. In honor of her birthday, her ten classic moments from the one and only Ms. Hill.

  1. "Sister Act 2"

Lauryn Hill's big break came on the big screen with her star turn in the 1993 film Sister Act 2, where she stole the spotlight with her acting, singing and beauty.

  2. "The Score"

Lauryn and the Fugees took it to the next level with their 1996 sophomore album, The Score, which went six-times platinum, making it one of the best-selling rap albums of all time. Though Wyclef contributed beats and rhymes — and Pras was there too — Lauryn's stellar rapping and singing provide most of the album's highlights.

  3. "Killing Me Softly With His Song."

Lauryn's true star-making moment on The Score, however, was her remake of the Roberta Flack classic "Killing Me Softly With His Song." A showcase of Hill's beautifully raspy singing, the hit single made her solo singing career seem like an inevitability.

  4. "If I Ruled the World"

"If I Ruled the World" - Lauryn's singing stole the show yet again on Nas' 1996 smash "If I Ruled the World."

  5. 1999 Grammys

Lauryn dominated the 1999 Grammys, becoming the first woman ever to be nominated in 10 categories in a single year and the first woman to win five awards one night, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year. She was honored for the insanely successful of Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

  6. Lauryn And Mary

In 1999, Lauryn doesn't have to take the mic to make beautiful music. She wrote and produced Mary J. Blige's timeless, gorgeous "All That I Can Say," one of the best songs of the Blige's legendary career.

  7. 2005 BET Awards

In 2005, L-Boogie emerged from an self-imposed exile with a triumphant reunion performance with the Fugees at the BET Awards.

  8. In 2017, Ms. Hill linked up with Nas for the Life Is Good/Black Rage tour. See one of the incredible performances above.
