Joy Taylor Breaks Silence On FS1 Lawsuit
Joy Taylor has broken her silence about the FS1 lawsuit that accused her and several of her co-workers of various allegations, including sexual misconduct.
During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, Taylor spoke about the bombshell lawsuit and its lingering impact. Although she did not address specific accusations, she explained that the “grief process” of the ordeal was a dark time in her life.
“No. I’ve never felt compelled to litigate that. Genuinely,” Taylor said.
“I have felt a lot of different emotions. I think it’s a grief process when anything like that happens. I’ll say, I’ve been through a lot of traumatic things in my life. A lot. And I think any time you go through a trauma or a grieving period of something, you can’t decide who you are when it’s happening,” she explained. “And that’s been the biggest thing for me.”
“It’s this or that. I’m working on it, but it’s this or that. And I know years from now I’ll look back, and I will feel differently than I feel right now,” she continued. “And I’m trying to be patient with myself in that way, because it’s a lot to adjust to,” she continued.”It’s a new reality. And I’m trying to choose myself and be gentle with myself in that sense.”
Filed in January by Noushin Faraji, a former hairstylist, the 42-page lawsuit alleges 14 counts against the plaintiffs. The suit claims that Faraji encountered a “misogynistic, racist, and ableist” workplace that allowed for executives and talent to “physically and verbally abuse workers with impunity.”
“When Ms. Faraji and others came forward to report the wrongdoing, instead of addressing their concerns, Fox retaliated against them while the perpetrators and those who protected them were inexplicitly promoted,” the lawsuit reads. “This case thus represents yet another in a long line of cases chronicling the toxic culture at Fox, marked by bad faith promises and repeated failures to address a poisonous and entrenched patriarchy.”
Currently, Taylor is in negotiations with FS1 about renewing her contract.
“We are in the process of things right now,” she said.
