Rising stars Bobbi LaNea and Folayan, better known as internet sensation Flyana Boss, raced toward stardom earlier this year following the release of their song viral single, “You Wish.” Since then, the duo has collaborated with some of music’s biggest icons, including Missy Elliott, and toured with “Soul Train Awards” 2023 “Spirit of Soul Award” honoree Janelle Monáe.
The ladies presented the Grammy Award-winning singer and actress with the inaugural award, formerly known as the “Lady of Soul Award,” while also marking their debut appearance at the annual celebration of R&B and soul music.

Flyana credited Missy Elliott as one of their major influences. Last summer, the rap icon came to the group's defense when they encountered online criticism regarding the repetitive nature of their TikTok content for “You Wish.” Missy also appeared on the song’s remix.
