New Audio Emerges Of Louisana State Trooper Talking About Ronald Greene Killing

The 49-year-old died after a May 2019 traffic stop.

Audio has emerged from an interview with a state trooper who was involved in the 2019 death of Ronald Greene, but Louisiana State Police have yet to comment.

According to edited clips obtained by the Associated Press, state trooper Chris Hollingsworth, who was being interviewed by investigators, reportedly said about the traffic stop, "I was scared. He could have done anything once my hold was broke off him -- and that's why I struck him."

His comments are strikingly different from how aggressive the state troopers sounded in the original body cam footage. The interview took place 16 months after Greene’s death. However, Chris Hollingsworth died in a car crash in September of 2020.

According to CNN, Louisiana State Police would not comment on the audio.

According to UPI, body camera footage and multiple videos show that Greene died after police officers handcuffed, beat, and stun-gunned him during a May 2019 traffic stop near Monroe, Louisiana.

According to a preliminary report, Louisiana State Police claimed Greene died due to an auto accident after a high speed chase. The initial police report did not mention state troopers used force or an arrest.

The LSP’s report said two officers pursued a vehicle being driven by Greene following an attempt to pull over Greene for an unspecified traffic violation and the pursuit ended when Greene crashed his vehicle.

In May of 2021, video obtained by the Associated Press showed Greene’s door opening and a taser going off. "OK, OK," he is heard saying. "I'm sorry. I'm scared. Officer, I'm scared. I'm your brother. I'm scared."

An officer approaches Green’s car with his weapon drawn. "Let me see your f*****g hands m****rf****r."

After being tased, Greene can be heard moaning while still on the ground and being put in handcuffs by an officer while another kicks him several times. One cop can be heard saying, "I've got blood all over me, I hope this guy ain't got f*****g AIDS," as Greene continues to moan.

Greene is also dragged at one point in the video.

The Associated Press also reported back in  November, a reexamined autopsy ordered by the FBI denies Greene died due to a car crash after a high speed chase. His death is cited as “a series of factors, including troopers striking the 49-year-old in the head, restraining him at length and his use of cocaine.”

The report also stated that even though the airbag didn’t work when the car crashed, that was not the reason why he had a fractured breastbone and ruptured aorta. Most likely, he developed those injuries from life-saving efforts by first responders, the report stated.
