Tyrese Gibson Facing Animal Cruelty Investigation in Georgia
Tyrese Gibson is under investigation for animal cruelty after a Buckhead neighbor claimed the actor’s dogs were roaming the area and killed their pet.
WSBTV reports that Capt. Nicole Dwyer with Fulton County Police Animal Services spoke to Channel 2 correspondent Cory James and told the news reporter that a warrant has been issued for Gibson’s arrest.
According to Dwyer, the neighbor let his dog out into the front yard and found it dead just five minutes later. Security footage reportedly shows Gibson’s Cane Corsos scratching at a door across the street only moments before the attack, per CBS News.
Officials said Gibson’s dogs were reported running loose on at least five occasions in the week and a half leading up to the incident. The deceased dog’s owner, Harrison Parker, called 911 on September 18 after finding his 5-year-old dog, Henry, dead in his driveway with puncture wounds and internal bleeding.
“I found my dog dead in my driveway,” Parker told WSB-TV 2. “Not hearing him around, it’s just awful. He was one of the sweetest dogs and to have him get murdered is, it’s indescribable.”
Capt. Nicole Dwyer of Fulton County Police Animal Services added, via People: “It is the negligence on his part as the homeowner and animal owner, just letting them roam free. And now they have killed an innocent animal.”
Gibson’s attorney released a statement saying the actor “offers his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved pet in this tragic incident that occurred while he was away from home. After learning what happened, Mr. Gibson made the difficult choice to rehome his dogs in a safe and caring environment.”
The statement added that Gibson is “working closely with authorities to address the situation and ensure it is resolved responsibly.”
