Box Office: Tom Cruise Can't Beat Teen Romance

Fault in Our Stars tops the box office with $48.2 million.

Teens beat Tom at the box office this weekend.
The Fault in Our Stars, starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, took the top spot at the box office with $48.2 million.

The tear-jerker romance beat Tom Cruise‘s Edge of Tomorrow, which came in third place with $29.1 million.

Angelina Jolie‘s Maleficent grossed another $33.5 million for second place, making its total domestic earnings $127.4 million.

Rounding out the top five were X-Men: Days of Future Past, starring Hugh JackmanJennifer LawrenceHalle Berry, and the Charlize Theron and Seth MacFarlane comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West, which brought in $14.7 million and $7.2 million, respectively.
Next week, 22 Jump Street, starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, will attempt to recreate the magic of the first film of the franchise.
