See The Gorgeous Model That Just Became Playboy's First Transgender Playmate

The reactions are mixed.

Yesterday, Playboy announced its first ever openly transgender Playmate in the magazine’s 64-year history. Ines Rau is the French model who nabbed the coveted centerfold spot in the November/December issue, which will include a 100-page tribute to the late Hugh Hefner. Since the mag has reverted back to doing nude spreads, Ines will be stripping down for her feature.

“Nudity means a lot to me, since I went through a transition to get where I want to be. Nudity is a celebration of the human being without all the excess. It’s not about sexuality but the beauty of the human body, whether male or female,” she said about being in the nude.

Ines has modeled for Vogue Italia, magazine and for top designers like Balmain, although this time we’ll be seeing A LOT more of Ines than we’ve seen before. It’s no secret Hef advocated for the rights of all people, and while many are celebrating the monumental moment, some folks are not here for the Playboy’s decision to feature a transgender Playmate.

Playboy politely clapped back at the critics via Twitter by comparing the negative reactions to those they received from their first Black Playmate, Jenny Jackson, in 1965.

See the receipts they pulled below.

They even found this quote from one reader back in day that coincidentally mimicked Ines’ “Being a woman is just being a woman" quote that was met with lots of backlash.

What do you think? Same scenario or completely different?
