Tory Lanez’s Jailhouse Attacker Breaks Silence
The inmate responsible for stabbing Tory Lanez has come forward, claiming a rumored bounty on his life prompted the violent prison assault.
Santino Casio, who is already serving a life sentence for an unrelated conviction, told TMZ that he stabbed the Canadian-born emcee 14 times after hearing whispers that Lanez had “put a bounty on his head.”
Casio, who was housed in a neighboring cell, claimed the rumor led him to believe his life was in danger.
“I wasn’t trying to kill Tory,” Casio insisted, explaining that their encounter escalated after he allegedly spotted a suspicious bulge on Lanez and assumed he was armed.
Fearing Tory would strike first, Casio said he acted out of self-defense.
Casio also claimed that he was stabbed during the altercation, pointing to his wounds as possible evidence that Lanez had a weapon, though that detail remains unconfirmed.
The rapper sustained severe injuries, including seven stab wounds to the back, four to the torso, and three to the head. He was hospitalized, but has since returned to prison under heightened supervision.
Meanwhile, lawyers for Lanez call Casio’s account “an absurd fabrication.”
In a statement to the outlet, his attorneys said, “The recent attempt on his life was savage and ferocious, underscoring the clear and present danger he faces while incarcerated.”
They also reiterated demands for his release. “His continued confinement is both a miscarriage of justice and a threat to his safety. He must be released immediately.”
Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year sentence after being convicted in 2022 for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion during a heated argument in July 2020.
Despite ongoing claims of new evidence and high-profile support, his conviction remains upheld.
