Lenny Kravitz To Release New Memoir, ‘Let Love Rule’

The book will chronicle the first 25 years of the legendary Grammy-winning musician’s life.

Lenny Kravitz has revealed that he will be releasing a memoir, titled Let Love Rule: A Memoir, taking its name from the Grammy-winning artist’s first album.

  • “Writing this memoir has been a beautiful and interesting experience taking me through the first 25 years of my life, from birth to release of my first album. That journey, full of adventure, was where I found myself and my voice. Through that experience, love was the force that paved the way and love became my message,” Kravitz said in a statement obtained by Billboard.

The book will provide details from Kravitz’s childhood, growing up in New York City to the years he spent living in Los Angeles, France, England, and Germany.

Kravitz co-wrote the memoir alongside biographer and songwriter David Ritz.

  • The memoir will also touch on his relationship with his parents, Sy and Roxie Roker, as well as his first wife Lisa Bonet, whom he married in 1987 and is the mother of his only child, daughter, Zoey Kravitz. The two divorced in 1993, but have remained the best of friends throughout the years.

According to a press release obtained by Entertainment Weekly, the book is “the story of a wildly creative kid who, despite tough struggles at school and extreme tension at home, finds salvation in music. In one lightning-fast chapter after another, we see him grow as a musician and ultimately a master songwriter, producer and performer. We also see Lenny’s spiritual growth — and the powerful way in which spirit informs his music.”

Let Love Rule is scheduled to hit shelves on October 6.
