Get Ready to Dive Into the Music of 'The Little Mermaid' with All New Soundtrack
The premiere of Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, starring singer and songwriter Halle Bailey, is still a little over two weeks away, but the wait just got a bit more bearable as eager fans can now pre-order the soundtrack to the highly anticipated film.
According to RollingStone, in addition to some of the classic records written by songwriting legend Allen Menken, such as "Under the Sea" and "Kiss the Girl," the album will also include several brand new original songs from award-winning actor and filmmaker, Lin-Manuel Miranda.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Broadway star opened up about working on the musical project alongside the iconic composer on various tracks, including one titled “For The First Time,” which was written for Bailey’s character, Ariel. Miranda described the song as having a “kind of Caribbean island vibe that we were already headed towards.”
Bailey’s version of “Part of Your World” and other songs are available for free through Amazon Music Unlimited. Fans can pre-order the CD and vinyl on Amazon. Meanwhile, the soundtrack will be up for streaming on May 19, while the physical copies will hit stores on the film’s release date of May 26.
