The Roots Picnic will return this summer with Mary J. Blige who will be performing with The Roots, Summer Walker and Wizkid as the three superstar headliners.
After a two-year hiatus, the live event will return to an in person experience and take place on Saturday (June 4) and Sunday (June 5) at The Mann in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, according to an official Twitter update posted by The Roots.
“This year, the picnic is a love letter to Philly. Thank you for supporting us for 15 years. We’re bringing you a 2-day festival,” the Grammy Award-winning group shared on Tuesday (Feb. 15).
The festival, which started in 2007, is known for celebrating music, art and culture, will also include performances by Jazmine Sullivan, Tone Stith, Keyshia Cole, SWV, Mickey Guyton, Musiq Soulchild, Muni Long, Kirk Franklin, Rick Ross, and more.
A live podcast stage with Jemele Hill, Questlove Supreme, Rory & Mal will also take place during the event.
“After a long two years, we are excited to announce the return of The Roots Picnic to Philly with two days of music and culture at the Mann at Fairmount Park,” said Shawn Gee, President of Live Nation Urban, The Roots manager, and co-founder of the event in an official press release. “This year, Black Thought, Questlove and I attempted to curate a lineup that broke through the genre barriers that often separate us in black culture. To be able to book Mickey Guyton, Kirk Franklin, G Herbo, Wizkid, Wallo & Gillie, and Mary J Blige on the same lineup was a dream come true.”
Pre-sale tickets are currently on sale and general tickets sales will start Friday (Feb. 18) at 10 am ET. Early Bird 2-day tickets are $149, while VIP Silver passes cost $499 and VIP Gold passes cost $999. For more information, fans can click here.
