Questions Raised About Quinton Aaron’s ‘Spiritual Marriage’ During Recovery

As Aaron heals from a spinal stroke, relatives say they’ve found troubling inconsistencies and will investigate, as the woman who identifies herself as his wife denies any wrongdoing.

Quinton Aaron, the actor who rose to fame as Michael Oher in 2009’s “The Blind Side,” is recovering after suffering a spinal stroke, his family said, but the situation has grown more complicated. Relatives say they’ve uncovered “alarming details” about the woman who has been identified as his wife.

Aaron’s family told outlets he is “alert, aware, and recovering” while asking the public to rely only on statements from appointed family spokespeople.

In a follow-up statement shared with US Weekly, Aaron’s family said they have “raised some suspicions about the legitimacy of Quinton and Margarita’s ‘marriage’ to each other, as well as her legitimacy as a registered nurse,” and that those concerns have prompted them to look into her background. Family members said they “have found some alarming details” and want to investigate further.

Aaron’s brother Jarred told TMZ he fears for his sibling’s well-being and alleged the woman identified as Aaron’s wife had been presenting herself as having authority to make medical decisions — charges Jarred says he will raise directly with Aaron when the actor is able. Representatives close to Margarita have pushed back. She told reporters she and Aaron were “spiritually married” in December 2024 and denied having power of attorney or making medical decisions for him.

Friends and former co-stars have sent support, and a GoFundMe organized to help cover medical costs was verified as authentic. Aaron’s recent health history, including a major weight-loss milestone and previous hospitalizations, has been widely reported in relation to his current health scare. The family reiterated that misinformation is a concern and asked for privacy as they sort the medical and personal matters surrounding Aaron’s recovery.
