‘X-Men’ Star Alexandra Shipp Is Reportedly Outraged After 'Beale Street’ Star KiKi Layne Reveals She's Vying To Play Storm

Sadly, seems like Twitter is here for this change.

If Beale Street Could Talk lead actress KiKi Layne is already gaining momentum in Hollywood after her rousing performance in the widely celebrated film. In fact, the new star is going full steam ahead in trying to secure a major role she's always dreamed of filling: X-Men's Storm.

One person who seemingly is not here for Layne's pitch is the superhero's current on-screen portrayer, Alexandra Shipp.

According to Page Six, Layne recently did an interview at this past weekend's Critics Choice Awards where she expressed her interest in portraying the iconic superhero on film.

"She was an image of myself, of a powerful chocolate Black woman, and I just think that's an amazing image to have and I really want to play Storm," she said. "We are actively plotting, actively plotting."

Shipp, however, who is currently the face of the beloved X-Men character, apparently does not co-sign Layne's hefty pitch, as Twitter users swarmed the site voicing their support of the new Hollywood It-girl's aspiration.

The actress, known previously and most infamously for her role in the highly controversial Lifetime biopic Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, took to the social media site to express her disgust over a "fellow actor actively trying" to take her job.

  • Twitter, upon seeing Shipp's seemingly subliminal remarks regarding Layne's comments, took to the site to unwaveringly support Lane's vying for the high-profile role.
