Montell Jordan Shares Cancer Has Returned Nearly a Year After Surgery

In 2024, musician Montell Jordan was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The "This Is How We Do It" singer told the TODAY show that he made regular visits to the doctor and was thankful for early detection. He underwent prostate removal surgery and was cancer-free.

However, recent check-ups found cancer in his lymph nodes.

"I'm not completely on the other side of that journey and still have some additional work that needs to get done that starts in October," said Jordan who is undergoing radiation treatment. He added that he's "fully confident" that "God is (my) healer."

"I also know that I have the greatest of care professionals and people alongside of me to make sure that we are completely cancer free," he added. Jordan noted that he had no idea that there was a such a thing as being a two-time cancer survivor, but "that's the journey that I'm on right now."

Jordan, a Global Ambassador for non-profit ZERO Prostate Cancer, wants men to stop being afraid to talk about the disease and urged anyone with male loved ones to encourage routine prostate exams to promote early detection.

“The National Cancer Institute states that nearly 13% of all men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point in their lifetime and that in 2022, an estimated 3.5 million men were living with it in the United States,” USA Today reports.

"If I'm not getting checked basically I'm playing Russian Roulette with my life," Jordan said.
