Angel Reese Speaks On Her Relationship With WNBA Legend Lisa Leslie

The Sky's star forward has forged a close bond with the Hall of Famer.

The Chicago Sky are off to a slow start after losing their third straight game on Sunday (May 24), falling to the Los Angeles Sparks 91-78.

While the Sky are struggling to find their footing during the early portion of the season, WNBA All-Star forward Angel Reese has been one of the bright spots of the team. Against the Sparks, Reese scored a season-high 13 points,12 rebounds, and four assists.

During the offseason, Reese worked on her game. At the Unrivaled League, she won the Defensive Player of the Year award, and her team went on to win the league's inaugural championship. She even forged a relationship with WNBA legend Lisa Leslie.

Following the loss, a reporter asked Reese about her relationship with Leslie.

"I think just being able to have somebody in my back pocket is always good," Reese said.

Recently, Leslie said that Reese and her rival, Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark, are precisely what the “W” needed and how the sport is growing because of them.

When you look at what happened with Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark in college, you know it was like the explosion that we needed," Leslie said on Locked On Women's Basketball. "We've been playing this style and grace of basketball for so many years, but there's some X-factors here... Caitlin and Angel, I think, just took it to another level."

Due to popular stars like Reese, the WNBA delivered the most-watched opening weekend in league history. The Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever averaged 2.7 million viewers on ABC. This game also broke records as the most-watched WNBA regular-season game on ESPN platforms, reaching a peak of 3.1 million viewers. During the game, Clark was issued a flagrant foul on Reese, which sparked social media buzz in the aftermath.

Additionally, the New York Liberty's matchup against the Las Vegas Aces also had a strong showing, averaging 1.3 million viewers.
