Raptors Fan Who Made Vulgar Sexual Ayesha Curry Comment On Live TV Investigated By Toronto Police

The man has since come forward to apologize and said he's received death threats.

Officials in Toronto are investigating a Raptors fan who made lewd remarks about Ayesha Curry after Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

After the Warriors beat the Raptors 109-104, Canadian reporter Kelly Linehan interviewed the Raptors fans in a live segment for CP24 news.

  • Linehan spoke with a man who identified himself as Tristan Warkentin, a salesman in Ottawa. At one point in the segment, Warkentin looked at the camera and said, “I just wanted to let everyone know: Ayesha Curry, we’re going to f—- her in the p——.”

Linehan quickly apologized to viewers and later criticized Warkentin’s remark in a post to Twitter.

  • “I love covering the Raptors. I love the fans and I love the post-season feeling in the city. However, I really can’t stand when people hijack an interview to spew vile comments on live TV. Toronto is so much better than that,” Linehan wrote in a tweet.

Toronto police also announced they are investigating the incident.

Since a clip of the incident went viral, Warkentin has come forward to apologize. He also revealed he has received death threats over his vulgar comment, which he says was fueled by alcohol.

“I’m not in a position to defend myself in terms of what happened. I am sure you understand the influence of alcohol,” he told the Toronto Sun. “What I did was disgraceful; it was an alcohol-influenced situation.”

Warkentin also made sure to explain he wasn’t using alcohol as an excuse.

“To be honest, I don’t even remember being there, but I am responsible for my own actions at the end of the day” and “am not sitting here claiming victim.”

Warkentin now says he wants to reach out to the Currys.

“What I am trying to do is maybe reach out to Mr. and Mrs. Curry, and that’s realistically who I feel I owe an apology to — and maybe Toronto,” he told the Toronto Sun.
