Eminem ‘Sides With Chris Brown’ While Rapping About Rihanna's Assault In Leaked Verse

“Of course I side with Chris Brown, I’d beat a b*tch down too.”

A lyrical ghost from Detroit rapper Eminem’s past has apparently come back to haunt him after the internet dug up a snippet from a previous track, which suspectedly alludes to his support of Chris Brown’s violence against women.

  • Posted by a Reddit user, the leaked seven-second bite is titled “(SNIPPET) Eminem — Things Get Worse (Rihanna Diss).” Eminem can be heard in the track saying, “Of course I side with Chris Brown, I’d beat a b*tch down too.” Initially being recorded for his 2009 project, Relapse, as told by Genius, the lyrics would later appear on B.o.B’s 2011 song “Things Get Worse,” according to Insider.

Early claims of the verse note that it originally surfaced in 2007, which was before the 2009 domestic violence incident between Brown and Rihanna. Brown was later charged with felony assault after he was accused of leaving visible injuries on his girlfriend, Rihanna, at the time. As a part of a plea deal, he pleaded guilty to the charges.

  • “Things Get Worse” depict several references of violence against women, including references to female celebrities like Carmen Electra, Jessica Simpson, Angelina Jolie, Natasha Bedingfield, Dakota Fanning and Eminem’s mother, Deborah Nelson-Mathers.

Rih and “The Slim Shady” have since collaborated on music since the track. The pair first teamed up on “Love the Way You Lie,” which went on to be crowned with five awards, including Favorite Song at the 2011 People’s Choice Award and Top Rap Song at the Billboard Music Awards. They linked again for their 2013 hit “The Monster.”

  • The controversy comes after Mathers was interviewed by the Secret Service in October 2019 after he published lyrics that alluded to killing Ivanka Trump.

Although the newly discovered track that fans suspect take aim at Rihanna is no longer available for streaming, the lyrics have continued to surface on social media.
