Cedric the Entertainer's The Soul Man Returns for Season Two

The Soul Train Awards host gets his family sitcom renewed.

Television audiences just got another season of fun with their new favorite sitcom family. Cedric the Entertainer confirmed via Twitter that his comedy series, The Soul Man, was renewed.

“Just got word The Soul Man has been picked up for season #2,” Cedric tweeted Tuesday night. “Thank all of you who wrote in and/or just watched me and Niecy Nash bout to Turn Up!”

The sitcom, which also stars Nash, Wesley Jonathan and Jazz Raycole, debuted to huge numbers this past June on TV Land. Over 1.9 million viewers tuned to The Hot in Cleveland spinoff for its premiere. The Soul Man centers on a former R&B singer turned minister named Boyce Ballantine, who moves his entire family to St. Louis after taking over his father’s church.

Cedric the Entertainer is also host of the 2012 Soul Train Awards, which will feature performances by Fantasia, John Legend, 2 Chainz, Keyshia Cole and many more.

Tune in to the 2012 Soul Train Awards on November 25 at 8P/7C on Centric.
