BET’s Best Movie category at the 2026 BET Awards is not playing around. The stacked category includes eight films: “Sinners,” “Highest 2 Lowest,” “Him,” “Number One on the Call Sheet,” “One Battle After Another,” “Relationship Goals,” “Ruth & Boaz,” and “Wicked: For Good.”

Even though each of these movies deserves a golden trophy, it’s obvious there’s a standout in the midst: “Sinners.” The acclaimed film has already been a major awards-season force across many conversations. But this field is bigger than one frontrunner. “Highest 2 Lowest” brings prestige and star power. “One Battle After Another” adds another conversation-driving title. Then there’s “Him,” “Relationship Goals,” and “Ruth & Boaz,” which keep the category rooted in the kind of Black storytelling BET has always made room for. 

And don’t sleep on “Wicked: For Good” or “Number One on the Call Sheet.” One leans into blockbuster scale, while the other brings a more industry-facing lens to the mix. That is what makes this race fun. It’s not just one type of movie competing against another. It is prestige, romance, genre, spectacle, and culture all sitting at the same table. 

So yes, “Sinners” may have the edge–it was and still is very much is a cultural phenomenon. But in a category this crowded, fans are left wondering: Which movie made the loudest impact with the culture?
