Boosie Confirms Plea Deal in Resurfaced Gun Case

More than two years after his arrest, the rapper says he has chosen to stop fighting the federal charge and is asking fans for their prayers.

Boosie Badazz has agreed to a plea deal in a federal gun case that has resurfaced more than two years after his initial arrest, putting the Baton Rouge rapper back in the legal spotlight.

The rapper, born Torence Hatch, revealed the update on Aug. 4, telling fans on social media that he had officially signed off on the agreement. “JUST ACCEPTED A PLEA FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON MY GUN CASE,” he wrote. “I THOUGHT THIS CASE WAS OVER N I WAS GOING TO GET ON WITH MY LIFE BUT ‘GOD DONT MAKE MISTAKES’ N IM TIRED OF FIGHTING.”

Details of the plea deal have not been made public. The case stems from a June 2023 traffic stop in San Diego, where police found two handguns in the vehicle Boosie was in. State charges tied to the incident were dismissed in 2024, but federal prosecutors pursued the matter because Boosie is a convicted felon, making firearm possession a federal offense.

The “Set It Off” rapper celebrated when state charges were dropped, calling it a new chapter. “This situation made me see who was down with me and who wasn’t,” he told Courthouse News at the time. “Ninety percent of people thought I was going to prison, but God had a different plan.”

Now that the federal case has moved forward, that plan has shifted. Boosie says the decision to accept the plea came after speaking with family. He also asked fans to keep him in their prayers and to support his new music. “TALKED TO MY FAMILY N THIS IS THE RIGHT DECISION. TO ALL MY FANS ACROSS THE WORLD SAY A PRAYER FOR YA BOY N GO GET THE NEW ALBUM #wordsofarealone.”

The sentencing details have yet to be announced.
