Brandon Blackwood Announces First Swimwear Collection
Brandon Blackwood SWIM is bringing the designer's iconic brand to the beach. The line features the bright colors and thoughtful structure that BB is known for and features size-inclusive options and models.
"We wanted to create something as versatile as it was eye-catching," Blackwood told InStyle. He added that the colorways evoke the brand's most iconic bags in shades of hot pink, bright orange, baby blue, and classic black.
The line is comprised of three one-piece suits that feature thoughtful design details like a streamlined serif logo and bamboo hoops. The two-piece suit options feature two bikini tops, a high-waisted, ruched bikini bottom, a swim skirt, and a thong bikini bottom. "We're catering to a new way to wear swim. From the beach to the clubhouse, we got you covered," the designer declares.
The New York-based designer told Essence that the expansion into swimwear was a “natural step for the brand. "It’s a category we see in so many of our customers’ social media accounts. I figured our customer was going to buy a Spring Summer bag…why not get the full look from us. A new category is always exciting, and the brand only grows when you put yourself out there. I can’t wait to see how much they love the pieces!”
Blackwood has always listened to its devoted customer base. He told InStyle, "Our size range and fits are super inclusive because I want anybody with any body type to find something they love and feel confident in."
That confidence starts with each piece's design and continues into the marketing photos on the Brandon Blackwood website--which feature models of all ages and ethnicities. "Our e-comm will feature three models per item, all with different body types, so you can envision yourself in the swim[wear] before you purchase regardless of age, body type, or aesthetic. We want the BB customer to feel heard and look great."
The one-pieces and bikini separates, available in XS to XXL, are priced between $45 and $79.
