T-Boz to Perform Charity Concert for Sickle Cell Awareness

Raphael Saadiq, Faith Evans and Kat Graham will also perform at the one-night only show.

T-Boz is gearing up to host and perform at her very own charity concert set to bring awareness to sickle cell disease. Billed "T-Boz and Friends Unplugged Featuring Raphael Saadiq," the show is sure to be a star-studded affair for a great cause.

Speaking to BOSSIP, the TLC member said that the project started with a dream: "I told him [Saadiq], 'When I had the dream, I saw you next to me holding a bass.' So, we're making my dream come true."

The acoustic concert will take place in Los Angeles this Sunday (April 19) and will raise money and awareness for sickle cell. In addition to the Grammy Award-winning singer, several other musicians are set to hit the stage including Faith Evans, Kat Graham and T-Boz's girl group ATLA. Fans of TLC are also in for a treat as the singer revealed that she will perform a special rendition of their No. 1 hit "Waterfalls."

All proceeds from the event will go to the Sickle Cell Foundation, a charity that the 44-year-old has been a part of for years. "I love the work that they do and I know the money goes to a good cause," she said. "It helps children and parents... It goes to a lot of things that people may not think about unless they're ill."

T-Boz has struggled with the inherited blood disorder from birth, so this particular venture holds a special meaning in her heart. "I was born this way," she said. "So it makes me more relatable than the average celebrity."

The singer set up a Chideo page for fans to donate and purchase tickets to the live event with some purchases pre-packaged with awards. The lowest accepted donation of $10 will grant access to the live stream of the event while the highest of $199 will reward one ticket to the live event with priority seating in the first few rows in addition to a meet-and-greet with T-Boz herself, and many more perks. Only 50 in-person tickets are available for the event.

"T-Boz and Friends Unplugged" will take place at the Grammy Museum at L.A. LIVE on April 19. is your #1 source for Black celebrity news, photos, exclusive videos and all the latest in the world of hip hop and R&B music.
