50 Cent And T.I. Joins The Call For An Investigation Into The Mysterious Death Of Tamla Horsford

The mother of five was found dead the morning after an adult sleepover in 2018 where she was the only Black woman.

Rappers Tip “T.I.” Harris and 50 Cent are using their platform to help raise awareness for Tamla Horsford, an African-American woman who mysteriously died during an adult slumber party at a friend’s home in 2018.

  • On Tuesday (June 9), the Grand Hustle boss posted a screenshot of a tweet on Instagram questioning the  circumstances of Horsford’s death along with a picture she took of that night.

“FYI,” Tip wrote in the caption. 50 Cent shared that same tweet on his Instagram page, writing “where is the investigation on this one?”

  • There’s been a renewed interest in Horsford’s death amid the ongoing protests that were sparked over the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. An FBI investigation into Taylor’s case has since been opened, according to CNN, and many are hoping for the same for Horsford.

According to Forsyth County News, everyone at the party stayed up late drinking alcohol, watching football and playing games. Horsford was the only Black woman there with reportedly seven white women and three white men.

At around 2 .a.m., Horsford went out on the back porch to smoke while others retired for the night. The following morning, the mother of five was found lying motionless in the backyard with severe injuries and cuts all over her body.

  • Her death was ruled an accident, but many suspect foul play. Her case came under even more scrutiny after it was reported that court employee Jose Barrera, who was also a witness, was fired for illegally accessing documents related to the case, according to Forsyth County News. Barrera was the boyfriend of the woman who owned the home where Horsford was last seen.

On June 5,  family’s lawyer, Ralph E. Fernandez, released a statement disputing that her death was an accident. He also called into question investigators’ handling of the case. Fernandez noted that the injuries Horsford suggested she was involved in a physical struggle of some sort.

A GoFundMe page and petition has been created to help Horsford’s family receive justice for her death.
