Vince Staples: Lil Wayne Is Too Old for Twitter

He calls out Ghostface Killah and N.O.R.E. too.

Vince Staples thinks Lil Wayne needs to to log off social media for one reason: he’s too old. The outspoken Long Beach rapper shared his opinion on Wayne vs. Cash Money and 2015’s other rap beefs with MTV News.

Staples says Wayne’s anti-Cash Money tweets last October weren’t a good bargaining tool in the continuing battle. “That has less to do with the situation and more with Twitter control. Lil Wayne is too old to use Twitter, and when you’re too old to use Twitter, you use it poorly. That’s kinda what happened there,” he said. Referencing Wayne and Birdman’s infamous father-son kiss from years ago, he continued, “All love stories come to an end.”

He cracked a few more jokes about Weezy and the Carter V as well. “He should’ve stayed off Twitter and it [Tha Carter V] probably woulda came out,” said Staples, adding, “I love Lil Wayne.”

Staples feels the same way about Ghostface Killah posting a warning video to Action Bronson amid their rift this past summer. “That kinda falls back into too old for Twitter, but this goes into too old for the Internet,” he said of the Wu-Tang MC. “You know he didn’t put that video up by himself 'cause he didn’t know how. I don’t even know how to do that! He sat the digital camera down, because it was a digital camera not a phone, then he sent it to somebody and they shoulda been like, 'You know what, Ghost, lets not do that.’”

He also suggested that Ghost and Bronson settle things with a one-on-one basketball match. Then he moved on to N.O.R.E. tweeting him after he made controversial comments on '90s rap. “N.O.R.E.’s too old for Twitter,” Staples proclaimed. “N.O.R.E. thought that he was speaking to me directly. He was like, ‘I didn’t even know what a D.M. was.'”
