Rihanna, Robin Thicke Snag American Music Awards Nods
Rihanna, Robin Thicke, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake and more grabbed American Music Awards nominations, announced will.i.am and Kelly Clarkson on Good Moring America, Thursday (Oct. 11).
Seattle rap duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead with six nominations followed by Timberlake's five nods including Favorite Male Soul/R&B Artist, which pits him against Thicke and Miguel. Thicke's "Blurred Lines" earned him three nods to edge out Rih Rih's two.
The Bajan beauty is still very much in the trophy race however. In addition to facing off with Pink and Taylor Swift for Best Female Pop/Rock Artist, she will also go up against Timberlake, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Bruno Mars and Swift in the coveted Artist of the Year category.
Noticeably absent from the list is Justin Bieber, who took home three awards last year but saw no recognition in the big categories this time around. While Bieber was shut out, another teen pop star adds to the performance list. Ex-Disney star Miley Cyrus is confirmed to take the stage, as well as willi.i.am.
AMA winners will be voted on by fans via amavote.com.
