Young Black Woman Found Dead In New England Woods Sparks Serial Killer Fears

The body of 21‑year‑old Adriana Suazo was discovered June  1 in a wooded area near Milton, Massachusetts, marking the 13th unexplained death in New England since March and fueling public concern despite authorities’ denial of a serial killer pattern.

According to PEOPLE, the Norfolk District Attorney's office said that the body of 21-year-old Adriana Suazo, who was from Boston, was found in a wooded area near a house on Central Avenue in Milton, Massachusetts, just before 11:45 a.m. on June 1, 2025. Authorities say there were no obvious signs of trauma, and the chief medical examiner is looking into the death to find out what happened.

Suazo is the 13th unexplained death in New England since March of this year. Bodies have been found in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine. Paige Fannon, 35, was killed in Connecticut, and Denise Leary and Michele Romano, both in their 50s, were found dead in New Haven, Connecticut, and Foster, Rhode Island, respectively. Even though people are more afraid of a serial killer, police say there is no evidence linking the cases or showing that the public is in danger.

Since Suazo's death, family, friends, and social media users have shared their concerns. Her sister, Mel Loves, started a GoFundMe campaign that has raised more than $9,500 toward its goal of $11,000 for her funeral. It calls Suazo "a firecracker, full of life, laughter, and fierce love."

The Connecticut State Police told PEOPLE in a statement, "This investigation is in the early stages, is still going on, and there is no information at this time suggesting any connection to similar remains discoveries that CSP or other Connecticut law enforcement agencies are actively looking into."

Anyone who saw Suazo or knows something about the days before her death is asked to call the Massachusetts State Police Tip Line at 781-830-4990.
