CeCe Winans Leads Nominations For 2022 Stellar Gospel Music Awards

The show will air on BET, BET HER, and BET International in August.

CeCe Winans is the most nominated artist for the 2022 Stellar Gospel Music Awards with nine nominations, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and the Albertina Walker Female Artist of the Year – all for her first live album, Believe for It.

Pastor Mike, Jr., Tamela Mann, and Jonathan McReynolds are among the other artists leading nominees.

According to a release, the 37th Stellar Gospel Music Awards will return to Atlanta for a live-taped ceremony on July 16 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Jekalyn Carr and Kierra Sheard will serve as co-hosts for the show, which will air on BET, BET HER, and BET International in August. It will also be syndicated in various local markets across the U.S. between August 13 and September 11.

Winner of the 2021 Stellar Award for artist of the year, Pastor Mike Jr. received eight nominations, including Producer of the Year, Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year for his album I Got It: Single’s Ministry Vol. 1.

Tamela Mann, Jonathan McReynolds & Mali Music and Todd Dulaney each received six nominations with Mali Music earning an additional nod for a feature on a separate album. Kelontae Gavin tallied five while Maverick City Music, Israel Houghton, E. Dewey Smith, Jason Clayborn and Ricky Dillard (who will also take home the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award) all received four noms.

Six-time Grammy Award-winning singer and producer Aaron Lindsey is slated to receive the Aretha Franklin Icon Award while Candi Staton, who has had multi-genre hits in a career that stretches back six decades, will receive the Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones legends award.

As for entertainment, the 2022 Stellar Gospel Music Awards will feature performances by Tye Tribbett, Marvin Sapp, Maranda Curtis, Ricky Dillard, Kelontae Gavin, Rudy Currence, Chrisette Michele, DOE, James Fortune, Jason Nelson, Travis Greene, Darrel Walls and Jor’Dan Armstrong, according to the release.

Sponsors of this year's awards include AT&T Dream in Black, Proctor & Gamble (P&G), Walmart, State Farm, Toyota, McDonald’s – Black & Positively Golden, and Aflac. The Stellar Gospel Music Awards are also proud to partner with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Spotify.
