Still less than a decade into her game changing rap career, Nicki Minaj is already making an impression on Tinsletown.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, the Head Barb in Charge revealed that she's got the cast set for her recently announced ABC Family series, Nicki, and she's bringing no less than the va va voom to her role as executive producer.
"I am honored and excited to announce that I've literally hand picked the main characters of my scripted series," she wrote.
Whoopi Goldberg is billed to guest star alongside Selita Ebanks, who will play Nicki's mother, Grace; sitcom vet Wesley Jonathan (City Guys), who will play her father, Vincent; and McCarrie McCausland (Army Wives) as her older brother, Jaylen, reports CNN.
As for the one who is cast as Nicki's younger self, the newbie actress Ariana Neal is already delivering tear-producing performances.
"I literally cried watching her taped audition," Nicki wrote. "I demanded to meet her! Sat in a room with her teaching her how to rap by doing a beat on the table & forcing her to stay on beat! Lol. Then pulled out all the attitude she had in her lil body. Haha! She's tough! And so sweet & cute. #ArianaNeal #LilNicki Welcome to the family lil lady bug!"
The series is based on Nicki's upbringing in Queens after her family migrated from Trinidad in the 90s. The LaGuardia graduate is also slated to guest star.
