Columbus Short Announces He's Moving to Barbados

Will the actor relocate to avoid facing criminal charges in the US?

Did Columbus Short just go from Scandal to fugitive? The actor appeared to announce that he doesn't plan to come back to the United States, where he faces multiple criminal charges, during a trip to Barbados this week.
Speaking to a crowd in a video posted to TMZ, Short said, "Rihanna shouldn't be the only artist to come out of Barbados." He then announced that he plans to open a "camp" to nurture artists on the island nation. "I came out here initially just to have a good time. But now I feel like I'm gonna roll my sleeves up...and I'm moving here. I'm gonna have a place here. I promise you guys."
He added, "I'm gonna be honest, I'm going through things. But I chose to be here over any B.S. in the States."
The one snag in Short's plan is that he is currently a wanted man in America. Short faces a number of criminal charges for everything ranging from assault and battery to domestic violence. A judge issued a warrant for his arrest earlier this week for failing to appear at a hearing in divorce court. For now, however, Short can't be extradited from Barbados because his laundry list of charges are all misdemeanors.
Time will tell if Short will come back to face the music, or remain on the run while his legal troubles mount. is your #1 source for Black celebrity news, photos, exclusive videos and all the latest in the world of hip hop and R&B music.
