Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter Ashanti accepted the “Lady of Soul” award last month during the 2021 Soul Train Awards. The songstress expressed pure gratitude while receiving the honor she could only describe as a “full circle moment.”

Following an inspiring speech in which the singer reflected on her journey navigating the music industry and dealing with naysayers and her commitment to helping fellow female creatives, the “Energy” singer delivered a fiery performance of a medley of her hits.

As fans of the artist may know, Ashanti has an endless amount of songs that could keep a crowd dancing and singing for days, but luckily for us, she picked some of our most favorite tracks that had us groovy all night.

The show started with a dazzling performance of her 2002 hit “Happy” off her self-titled debut album Ashanti. It was then followed by her single “Rain on Me” off her sophomore album Chapter II. Things got even hotter once the New York native brought out her long-time friends Fat Joe and Ja Rule for an extra exceptional performance of “What’s Luv” and “Always on Time,” respectively.

Finally, it was only fitting that our 2021 “Lady of Soul” honoree ended the night with a fantastic performance with the single that made us fall in love with her and the record that started it all, “Foolish.” In case you missed it, check out Ashanti’s medley of hits down below.
