Megan Thee Stallion Shuts Down Viral ‘Hotties’ Anime ‘Sneak Peek’ Rumors
The internet thought it caught a first look at Megan Thee Stallion’s upcoming anime this weekend, but Meg said not so fast.
Clips that fans assumed were from the “Bigger In Texas” rapper’s upcoming “Hotties” anime started circulating online after they were shown during BlerDCon (Black Nerd Convention) in National Landing, Virginia. Naturally, the videos went viral on social media, and people immediately assumed they were getting an early peek at the series.
But Megan hopped on X on Sunday (March 8) to clear things up before the rumors got out of hand.
“This is NOT a ‘sneak peek’ or a ‘snippet’ of my new anime ‘hotties,’” she wrote. “This clip was from a music video to my song Gift and a Curse, ' which I never put out.”
She doubled down for the people in the back, adding, “everybody RELAX y'all DO NOT know what my show looks like yet lol I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A SNIPPET OF MY NEW ANIME🚨‼️.”
For context, “Gift & A Curse” originally appeared on Megan’s 2022 album “Traumazine”. At the time, she dropped a visualizer on YouTube featuring the same Megan-inspired animated character that fans spotted in the viral clips—hence the confusion.
Meg first announced last May that her anime, “Hotties,” was in development with “The Boondocks” producer Carl Jones and headed to Amazon Prime Video. And from the way she’s been teasing it, the show is very much on brand.
Last month, the Houston rapper shared on TikTok that she was back in the studio recording voice lines for her character. She’s already promised the series will deliver everything her fanbase loves: bad b****es, fly outfits, fire hairstyles, and plenty of action.
“If you love bad bitches, fly clothes, cool ass hairstyles, ass-whooping, storytelling, character arc…” she teased. “Just as soon as the anime comes on, n****s is just getting merked—this might be the anime for you.”
No official release date for “Hotties” has been announced yet, but one thing’s for sure: when Megan finally does drop that first real look, the internet will know.
