Brandy to Make Her Broadway Debut in Chicago
Brandy is heading to the stage in a completely different capacity than she's used to. The Grammy-winning singer is set to star as Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning, record-breaking hit musical Chicago.
The R&B/pop superstar shared the news with her fans on Instagram, posting a promotional poster announcing her Broadway debut with the caption, "roxie @chicagomusical #ChicagoMusical #Broadway #lifechanging #Godinmeasme."
According to Broadway.com, the "Full Moon" singer will begin her performances at the Ambassador Theatre on April 28. She will play an eight-week stint through June 21, taking over for Paige Davis, who will assume the role on March 30.
The singer will join an incredibly experienced cast, which currently includes Amra-Faye Wright as Velma, John Dossett as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Matron "Mama" Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
Brandy is the second African-American woman to play the role of Roxie Hart. The first is Destiny's Child alum Michelle Williams.
