The ups and downs of Lamar Odom continue to play out in the public eye, as he recently checked himself into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, according to PEOPLE.com. Sources tell the publication that "he realizes he needs help." 
The former NBA player was arrested Aug. 30 for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs after he was spotted driving erratically on a Los Angeles freeway. Rumors were swirling last week that Odom had been missing, according to TMZ. 

The website also said that sources close to his family were concerned that Odom was using drugs since his wife, Khloé Kardashian, "threw him out" of their house Aug. 21. 
Lamar watched his father, Joe Odom, battle with heroin addiction growing up, a story he revealed during an episode of Khloe and Lamar in 2011.
