After entering a plea deal to have his case of domestic abuse dismissed, baseball player Danry Vasquez was identified as the man seen hitting his girlfriend on newly released surveillance video.
The stadium surveillance video shows the former Corpus Christi Hooks baseball player assaulting a woman in a stairwell at Whataburger Field, back on August 2nd, 2016, reports KRIS-TV.
Warning: the video below is disturbing
The video shows 24-year -old Danry Vasquez walk into a stairwell with his girlfriend. Shortly after the door closes behind them, he strikes the woman with his left hand. He then hits her again across the face. Eventually, he grabs her by the hair and lead her down the stairs, where he hits her again.
Although District Attorney Mark Gonzalez says the case against Vasquez has been dismissed, many want the baseball player to be banned from the sport and put in jail
Throughout the video, Vasquez fixes his girlfriend's glasses, a move many found extremely chilling
The Lancaster Barnstormers, a professional team in the Atlantic League which signed Vasquez cut ties with the 24-year-old.
“There is no choice but to sever the relationship,” the team’s manager, Ross Peeples, told the New York Post. “Neither I, nor the Barnstormers’ organization as a whole, can condone or associate with that behavior.”
