Rihanna Launches Her Own Perfume

Rihanna may be one of the original’s in the music industry, but soon she will follow in the footsteps of singers like Beyonce, Britney Spears and Mariah with the release of her own perfume, Reb’l Fleur. The French-ish name comes straight out of the starlet’s childhood, as her grandmother use to call her Rebel Flower, and it will be available nationwide in February (selling for $49 for a 1.7 ounce bottle at Macy’s).

Reb’l Fleur is being distributed by Parlux, the company behind Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson’s very successful fragrances and it is expected to bring in approximately $50 million in retail sales. That’s a lot of pressure for a simple scent, which may explain why it took months to settle on the final mix. Developed by Caroline Sabas and Marypierre Julien of Giyaduan, it has red berries, purple plum, peach and tuberose in a base of vanilla, patchouli, amber and musk.

“Over the years, I layered many different scents to get something that was truly my own,” Rihanna told People magazine. “But I wanted…something that said ‘Rihanna was here.’ Something delicious and special, a fragrance with subtle hints that linger and leave a sexy memory.”
