Louisiana Rapper JayDaYoungan Fatally Shot In Bogalusa

His father was also shot, but he is in stable condition, police report.

Popular rapper JayDaYoungan was shot and killed in his hometown of Bogalusa, La., at the age of 24.

According to TMZ, on Wednesday (July 27), Bogalusa police responded to a call of a shooting that occurred just before 6 p.m. at home in the 600 block of Superior Avenue.

Jay, real name Javorious Scott, was shot along with another victim by the name of Kenyatta Scott Sr. Scott Sr is reportedly Jay’s father.

“We can now identify the victims as Javorius Scott, A.K.A. JayDaYoungan and close family member Kenyatta Scott Sr. We can also confirm that Javorius Scott has died as a result of his injuries. Kenyatta Scott Sr. has been transported to another facility and we have been told he is in stable condition. Detectives are currently conducting interviews and working leads. Further information will follow as it becomes available.”

Bogalusa PD wrote a statement via Facebook:

Scott was treated by paramedics and rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition where he died of his injuries. Police say Scott Sr was critically wounded but is said to be in stable condition.

Police say there was another shooting in the neighborhood, just about a half-hour following the shooting involving the Scott’s. Police say there’s a possible connection between the two shootings. No one was injured in the second shooting.

The “23 Island” rapper was just released from prison in June after serving seven months. He was charged with possession of a firearm while under indictment for a felony. He was on house arrest prior to his death.

This is an ongoing investigation.
