XXXTENTACION’s Alleged Killer Listed As Witness In YNW Melly Murder Trial

The prosecution recently added new witnesses to their case against the Florida rapper.

One of the men suspected of killing XXXTENTACION in 2018 is now being named as a witness in the YNW Melly murder trial.

Legal documents obtained by XXL reveal that the prosecution added, among seven people, Robert Allen, a key suspect in the investigation into the Miami rapper’s death. The Florida State Attorney now states he could “have information that may be relevant to any offense charged, or any defense thereto.”

Michael Boatwright, 27, Dedrick Williams, 26, and Trayvon Newsome, 24, along with Allen, are the four alleged co-defendants facing charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm. Allen, however, already pleaded guilty to second-degree murder charges in August 2022.

During opening statements last February, the defense told the jury that they would challenge Allen’s account, with one attorney saying Allen essentially lied to spare himself a life sentence.

Allen told the jury that the four men agreed on June 17, 2018, to rent a vehicle to drive around and rob unsuspecting victims. "We had masks to rob people," he said, adding that they had guns to carry out their alleged crime spree.

Additionally, Allen said the idea to rent the car came from Williams, the alleged getaway driver, and that they happened to run across the rapper by coincidence.

Melly and co-defendant Corten “YNW Borten” Henry are accused of killing victims YNW Juvy and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams and attempting to stage the crime scene to resemble a drive-by shooting. Melly pled not guilty to the first-degree murder charges in March 2019. He later addressed his arrest in a since-deleted Instagram post that same year.

According to prosecutors, Ballistics tests show the victims were shot from inside the Jeep. But defense lawyers point to the fact that a gun was never recovered and assert Melly had no apparent motive for the crime.
